A Reflection From the Past 14 Weeks
Hi reader,
I would like to say this year has started with a "learning curve" when students had to adapt to online courses instead of in-person classes. But I would say that this course has relaxing, stressful in a few moments and had tons of freedoms. This course generally felt relaxing because I was able to do my work during my own time and at my own pace. But in some moments, like wrapping up the ATAP project and some blog posts, I felt like I had too much work for this one class. Lastly, this course had much freedom because students were able to learn on their own accord with specific topics given by the professor.
The most challenging piece that I wrote for this course was the This I Believe essay because I wrote about an emotional life experience and connecting it to an art, music, that impacts people's decisions every day. Since I add an emotional event to this piece, it made it slightly hard to write and to think of the best way to connect it to art. After much editing and thought to make the piece connected to the impact it has on art, I believe that I was able to make a great piece of write and feel like one most important pieces in the ATAP project. I feel like my strongest pieces were from the critical analysis writing from each historical-cultural movement because I was able to connect these arts to present-day issues and had a great piece of writing. After I learned about each era of art, I felt writing the critical analysis was easier to write about and to connect to the present day. But if I had to write the critical analysis a week or two after learning about it, I feel like I would not have a strong of a piece or would have been me more time to write.
The overall topic of art and "purpose of art" is very broad but important for people to understand how the impact art has on their day to day life. Art impacts people's mindset because people behave differently in the future depending on what art they have experience in their lifetime. From this course, I enjoyed the theme of the importance of art and making all of the assignments related to art. Art is around everyone and plays a role, but I think people over time under-appreciated art and the significance it plays. Art is significant because people can share their opinions, values, and emotions through art, and people can relate to this art.
In this course, I was able to pick up on better grammar strategies, project management skills, and source techniques through the use of a website and blog. I originally did not like the idea of a blog or website because I thought it would be a pain to set up, but I enjoyed the simplicity of these two forms of media. I also liked how organized the blog and website system was and how easy it was able to publish my work every week.
Sincerely Raj

Hi Raj, your website turned out awesome. I like that you decided to pursue such an important topic relevant to society today. It was also neat to read about the different types of art you based your analyses on. From recent songs to older pieces of writing, they all connected nicely to your project topic; very well done!
ReplyDeleteHey Raj, I love the ideas about and on your website. Focusing on the black community is very important. I also talked about the song Alright It really digs in on what's going on in society today and the image you chose was perfect. You choosing to write about "The Color Purple" was very a powerful choice because the novel and movie are very hard to watch and read, but I respect that you're bringing it up to light and to the surface again for people to know. Well done website.
ReplyDeleteThe way this article clearly summarizes the impact of music in young adults and adolescents is simply amazing.
ReplyDeleteMany of them find it as an escape to their problems, without realizing it can actually be damaging if they don’t pay enough attention to what they listen.
It is really important that we as a society stop listening to music that brainwashes us into behaving immaturely. As well as it is important that creators focus on sending positive messages through their music.
Hey Raj,
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the entirety of your website, I thought your final project came out very nice. As Bruno said above i really liked the emphasis you put on the impact of music on young people. Music I listen to today that even younger children are listening to may be troubling! I enjoyed how you are bringing this to light as people may not know the repercussions of this!
