website update 10/30/20

Image
Hi reader,      I would say that I made good progress on my final project and on the website. I first edited all my posts on the website for grammar and content. I heavily focused on the peer feedback I got from last week and made changes accordingly. Next, I focused on if the content and grammar for all the posts were met, and made sure all of the sentences flowed nicely.       Then, I looked at the rest of the arts from my brainstorm post on the website. I decided to remove the Blue legacies  by Angela Y Davis, and Who said it was simple, by Audre Lorde, from my final project. I thought both of these arts are very good pieces, but I did not think they would add a ton to the final project. Therefore, the brainstorm list is updated and I have my best six arts to use for the final project. Since I found my best six arts, I started to develop a theme and it is posted on the brainstorming post and is shown below. This coming week I plan to group...

Website progress 10/24

Image
Hi reader,       I would say that I am in a good position with my website. I added my post-modernism piece this week to the website and edited my enlightenment page. I revised a good portion of the grammar from the paper and followed some of the feedback given to me. I added a new image and brought in more evidence to further prove my point in that paper.      I made some internal fixes to the website. First, I organized the website into three categories, the Home page, which includes the TIB essay, the Critical analysis, including the four posts about the four eras, and lastly the final project section. I also fixed the layout of each page and put the image and source citation on top of the page, and the text below the image.      Lastly, I worked out the final project and created an updated list of arts that I will be using. This week I finished up reviewing some excerpts from  The Color Purple and Black looks,  by Bell Hooks...

Female stereotype

Image
From the painting, the viewer can see a black and white image of a woman looking into the distance and she is not looking at the viewer. The artist makes a description of the painting and she presents a female heroine from a "movie we feel we must have seen," and says that she is a "young career girl in a trim new suit on her first day in the big city" (Moma). This makes the viewer think any woman in a movie is "replaceable" because people think that they have seen an image from a movie but actually have not seen the movie.      From that time period, women have gained many rights that they earned in the Modernism era, and people started to see women in higher job roles. But as women gain the ability to go into different fields of jobs, there is still a stigma towards women doing certain jobs. From the painting, the artist says that the women in the image are from a movie that actually has not been made, but appears that people have seen. This m...

Post-Modernism Infographic

Post-modernism started around the mid to late 20th century and allowed people to express themselves through art. Post-Modernism led to newer forms of art, such as visual and performance art, which allowed for  other movements like feminism to spread.       For the project so far, I have completed the website and upload all of the WOA assignments. I started to work on the project temple timeline and filled is some on information, but still, need to continue finishing that planing out. F rom Black looks (Bell Hooks) 5. Blue legacies (Angela Y Davis) 6. Poem about my rights (June Jordan), 7. Who said it was simple (Audre Lorde) 8. Kendrick Lamar Alright in BET awards (look back at the articles from Black Lives Matter Movement: Focusing On Kendrick Lamar's impact blog post) Link to the very rough draft of the planning outline  Image by Dariusz Sankowski from  Pixabay   Sincerely Raj...

American Gothic: A Early Sign of Women's Rights?

Image
Hi reader, Image: American gothic, Source:  Wikimedia      The painting, American Gothic, by Grant Wood was created in 1930 and brings up the topic of Women's rights. From the painting, the man is holding the only tool in the painting, which makes the viewer lean towards the idea that the man is doing the work and is in charge. Another reason why the man looks to be in charge is from the man is looking directly at the viewer and the female is behind the man and looking towards the man. This shows that the female is not the main person in charge and follows the man because she is behind the man. In this time period, many women did not have many rights and they had to follow their husbands or male figure in the house because it was not common for women to work outside of their homes. This painting, like others from the Modernism era, created a chain reaction for women's suffrage and other rights.       From that time period to now, women have gained...

Hi reader, The modernism era started from the late 19th to the mid-20th century, and one of the main ideas from the time period was creating different art from the past and moving away from outdated or obsolete forms of art.  Image: American Gothic, Source: Wikimedia Infographic

Is Juice WRLD from the Romanticism age?

Image
Hi reader, The romanticism era started as a way for people to put emphasis on their emotions, and promote that emotion through art. Much of the art and ideas during the time were about the rejection of ideas of order, calmness, and balance, and one modern-day artist keeps the same ideals with art. That artist is named Juice WRLD and his art, music, is primarily focused on emotion-based lyrics and talks about his life through his songs. Songs like Empty, Feeling, Maze, Legends , and countless others all share similar themes of the emotions people go through when losing a person, or being in depression. His music allows people that are going through similar emotions to connect with his music because a lot of time he is going through many struggles and emotions that people feel every day. For example, in his song Empty, he says that his “world revolves around a black hole” and that “same black hole” is in the “place of [his] soul,” this causes him to feel “Empty.” These lines from t...

Romanticism Infographic

Image
Hi reader,   Image: Painting name: The Hay Wain by. John Constable, Source During the Romanticism age, people started to enjoy making art about nature, and people were more concerned with the beauty of nature instead of the reason of nature, unlike the Enlightenment era. The people during the time looked past the age of reason and allowed for the start of people experimenting with their emotions.  Infographic  Sincerely Raj

Product Update 10/3/20

Image
Hi reader,  Overarching theme/idea: Struggles of being black and being united with other people with hardships. This creates the idea of family hood between them. I plan to start viewing each visual art, Lemonade, and Black Is King for the 2nd time to find key details that will pertain to my topic. I viewed both of them once this week and now will look for potential quotes and clips from each art to connect to my topic. Film-wise my topic relates to many movies before the year 2010, such as Friday Night Light, and Blindside, but I will continue looking for movies, paintings, and photography related to my topic. Music and performing arts will be analyzed in 2 weeks and literature, such as the Color and Purple and poems will be done in 3 weeks. Throughout the project, I will try to find more sources of arts that can contribute to my project either from the use of the NY Times, social media, and whatever I can find through other sources.  Image by StartupStockPhotos...
